Because of the unique structure of fiber laser source, when people operate the machine in cold weather. Some improper operation will cause the machine and laser source get hurt. Sometimes it may lead the laser source be damaged very bad. Therefore, the user need to pay more attention on taking care of the machine in winter.

For extension the machine’s lifetime, we provide some tips you can have a look.

1 At first, please follow the rules to use the fiber laser cutting machine. The working condition of the temperature is from 15°C to 40°C.

2 Sometimes, the temperature is getting real low. The water inside of laser source is getting freeze. So we suggest you to add glycol to the water cooling system. The brand we suggest you AntifrogenN. The limit of capacity is 10%-20%. For example, if the water chiller could add 100L purifying water. The gloycol you add can not over than 20L.  More important is : Never Add propylene glycol.

3 If the working condition is between 10°C- 40°C, no need add any coolant. And when you use it in summer, please make sure all the coolant already removed, then add purifying water in you water chiller.

4 If you won’t use the fiber laser cutting machine in winter, please make sure there is no water in inside of laser source. If there is some, please unwater the tube of laser source.

5 If the laser source need to repair under cold temperature, please unwater the laser source and then package it and send it.

6 If the laser source power over 2000 watts. Ensure the laser source is energizing, if not the solenoid valve will affect you unwater the laser source.

 

When you trying to remove the water from laser source, cutting head and water chiller. Remove it first, and then you need to use the air less than 5 bar to make all those stuff dry.

The water cooling system is used for cooling cutting head and laser source. In general, you can find two brands of water cooling system in the Chinese market for laser cutter. Tongfei NC and S&A CW.

Base on our professional consideration, our cooling-system is picking the more professional one. The Tongfei’s water chiller is aim to fiber laser cutting machine, to design a best solution for cutter.

But you also can find some company use S&A water cooling system. Indeed, S&A is also a very good brand. Let’s talk about to prepare machine installation. Lately, my orders was shipped to worldwide. As the cargo is getting closer to my customers,there are some customers to ask me what they should do after clear the custom.

First,  Do not open the package before the engineer come. When our engineer get to your place, he will open it with you. The reason is he is know which parts of machine is easy to break. And he is very familiar with our package. Our engineer have the full experience about open package. So when you guys open the package, listen to him, and follow his order to open it.

Second, What you need to prepare before the engineer coming? At least, you need to prepare 2-3 bottles Nitrogen and  1-2 bottles of Oxygen. Each bottle of gas should over 40L. Because our technician will use the gas to cut the sample, and base on the effect of samples set up the parameter of the machine.

Third, Although we do have a copy of our parameter which save in the computer already. However, according to the customers from everywhere, the metal they want to cut is different. And the purity is different. So we need test the effect of  parameter we set in our factory.  And base on it, we adjust to the most suitable parameter to fit your cutting requirement.

Fourth,

Alcohol and purified water. We need the alcohol to wipe the protective lens to clear. And also need purified water or distilled water to use for water chiller. The water cooling system is require high purity water. If the purity doesn’t reach to the requirement, It may cause the water chiller break.

Fifth, to prepare the lubricating oil. You know we have the lubricating oil system, to make sure the guide rail,rack and pinion ,etc. Need some with good brand and quality.

Sixth, If you could, please preparing some tools for our engineer.

How to cut 2-3mm stainless steel?

Recently,A customer is considering use Co2 laser to replace fiber laser for stainless steel cutting.

Background:

The customer want to cut 2-3mm stainless steel, I suggest him to use 750 watt fiber laser machine to cut it. But they told me they are looking for 300 watt ‚s Co2 engraving machine (mix type) to cut the 2-3mm stainless steel. So does the Co2 engraving machine is able to cut the 2-3mm stainless steel? The answer is yes.

Both of them have their own advantages and disadvantages. So today I will tell you guys what is different between both of machines.

 

Co2 engraving machine’s characters:

The first, We do have a Co2 engraving machine could cut 2-3mm stainless stell. As the customer said, 280W-300W Co2 engraving machine has the ability to cut 2-3mm stainless steel. And it also can cut and engrave non-metal materials, such as, Arcylic, wood, plastic, glass, leather and so on. All effects on non-metal materials are all good.

But for metal, we will use a specific laser head, then it could do metal cutting. The biggest issue is the effect is very poor. For 2mm stainless steel, the ability can reach to. But for 3mm, it is very hard and slow. There is much dross on the object. And if you often cut 3mm stainless, it will let the laser tube reduce its laser power gradually.

For a glass laser tube, its lifetime is 8000 hours. So in usual, our customer will replace it every single year. And if you cut 3mm stainless steel usually, the lifetime might be shorter. And you need to change the nozzle when you switch the cut material. I mean from non-metal to metal.

Fiber laser cutting machine’s characters:

But for 500Watt fiber laser cutting machine. First, it was designed for metal cutting, the effect is much better than Co2 laser. By the way, its lifetime much longger than Co2 laser tube. The lifetime for fiber laser cutting machine is over 100,000 hours.

And the effect is much better than Co2 laser. But I suggest 750watt before, because 500 watt the cutting ability reach to 3mm, 750watt could reach to 4mm for stainless steel, which means faster, and more powerful, then the effect is better.

So what is the disadvantage? First, it cost more than Co2 laser, and it also need N2 for stainless steel cutting. If you want use air to cut, you need add 3 parts, air tank, air filter, and air compressor. But the sides on object will turn to a bit black if cutting by air.

In the end, the fiber laser cutting machine was designed for metal cutting, So whichever the speed and effect, it is not in same level with 300watt Co2 laser. The price might higher a little. But for long-term. It is still very economic.

In the fiber laser cutting machine, different parts have different functions to achieve the cutting purpose. So, what are their functions? Please read on.

Machine Bed:

The main function of machine bed is support all the parts working. The range of load-bearing ability is between 800kg to 1500kg. Its own weight is able to ensure the machine’s stability.

Laser source:

A device for generating a laser beam source. For the laser source of XT Laser, we use IPG, Raycus, and Nlight. Sometimes we also provide other brands‘ laser source. The machine power we have 500 watt and above. Those laser source we use is the mainstream laser source you can find in this market.

Cutting head:

Mainly include part like cutting head body, focus lens, protective mirrors, capacitance type sensor Auxiliary gas nozzles and other parts. The cutting head drive device is used to drive the cutting head alone Z axis according to the program. It is composed of servo motor and transmission parts such as ball screw or gear.

Driving system:

The machine’s move is through the fit of control system and machine. Control system give the servo motor to produce the kinetic energy, the X,Y and  Z axis are moved by kinetic energy. By the rail guide and rack, machine will move on X and Y axis. For Z axis, the cutting head up and down by screw rod. We also put reducer under the servo motor. In this way, the reducer could protect this machine run well.
