1.The servo motor:

the brand name,the power,the servo motor power need to stand the machine moving with a higher moving speed.

2.Then,the water chiller:

Thats also the brand name,the chilling ability.Cause the water chiller is to chill the laser source,the laser cutting head.

Thats really important,if the laser source and laser cutting head are broken down,how does the machine do your work?

You will waste many times to change new head or laser source. For that time,you lost your customers and your business,and your money.

3.Finally,the machine body:

It is also important.Cause the machine body is to stand the cutting materials,its stability depends on its frame and weight.

Usually,many CO2 laser cutting machine suppliers entered into our fiber laser cutting field.Some of them still use the CO2 lathe bed to build the fiber laser cutting machine.

One thing you need to know is the weight of co2 lathe bed just half of the professional fiber lathe bed,not stable.

And besides,some suppliers use the square tube welding lathe bed,thats okay for the smaller laser power,like 500w ,750w.

When you need the higher laser power,the square tube welding body is not good.Cause higher laser power will cut much thicker materials,the machine body weight can not stand a such weight.

When you cutting,the machine body will have a stronger shake,there is no any precision.

So these information is very important for whole machine,customer need to make these clearly when choose a machine.

Metal fiber laser cutting main use high temperature gasify metal material and blow the gas away under the help of inert gases. Compared with traditional cutting process, it have very high precision and fast cutting speed. At the same time, its loss rate is very low, so it have more and more wide application.

Due metal fiber laser cutting process, also we will face many different problems, follows is some common problems and solution. It can help us use this machine better.

Erosion on the sharp corners

When fiber laser cutting machine cut sharp corner, laser will turn to another side when finish one side. During this process, laser head will become ZERO then back to normal speed. Laser will stay on the corner parts for long time but laser power keep working. Due to the heat radiating area is very small near the corner so the corner temperature will be very high and metal will be melt. So the corners parts is not smooth.

Laser can’t cut through the metal

The most common reason is laser generator power attenuation so that the power is not enough to cut through the plate.

Additional, so high cutting speed, focus lens broken, laser path and voltage problems are common reason cause this problem.

Of course, material problems, auxiliary gas low pressure, water cooling system also may can rise this problem.

No laser output

Follow reason may cause this problem.

  1. laser generator is aged so the laser power become weak.
  2. Electric current is not enough so that the laser output is weak.
  3. Too many dust in the laser generator, it may pollute optical parts and laser light can’t go through.
  4. Laser power supply don’t work but cooling system keep working so that some parts freeze.

Cutting process is discontinuous

Due metal fiber laser cutting process, discontinuous cutting is very common. Usually it will bring large waste for our work.

Unreasonably program is the most common reason to rise this problem. Metal fiber laser cutting need close to the cutting surface. When we cut many different parts on one plate, program select lineation first then cutting acquiescently. It can avoid laser cutting head crash the cut parts and broken laser cutting head. When we white the program if some position is not closed, laser cutting will be discontinuous. 

Also, change auxiliary gas during cutting process also may cause this problem. We know auxiliary gas will blow away the gasified metal, when we continue cutting the same parts after change gas, the position may be little different with finished position.

Fiber Laser Cutting Machine Main Parts

As we all know fiber laser cutting machine can have a great work on different metal sheet. Like stainless steel sheet, carbon steel sheet, galvanized sheet…today we will talk the main part and configuration of the machine.

1. Fiber laser source

Fiber laser metal sheet cutting machine include 6 parts. Laser source, cutting head, control system, drive motor, transmission system, auxiliary system and machine bed.

Laser source is the heart of the whole machine. The most import part of the machine. More than half the value of the whole machine.

1.1 Brand: IPG, Raycus, Nlight and Max

Analyzation: IPG : The best quality in the world, Germany brand.

Raycus: The best quality in China, it’s many customers first choice, Cost-effective

Nlight：It can have a good working specialized on high reflection metal

Max: We used it years ago, high failure rate and regular maintenance, also the customer feedback is not so good, we already stop using it.

2. Laser Cutting head

Directly work to the metal sheet, it’s a part we need take care of.

2.1 Brand: Raytools, Precite

Analyzation:

Raytools: 500W, 750W mainly use the BT210 type, because the poor heat dissipation is not suitable for thick plate; Above the 1000W, BT240 type is a good choice; Also, there is a Auto-focus type. It depending on customers requirements, but for 3000W, most customer will choose it.

Precite: It’s the Germany brand, so we all know it’s good quality. But we need pay attention to the reliable, some factory use the fake brand to earn the money.

2.2 Single spray and double spray

Usually, when we cut the stainless steel, we will choose the single spray. For carbon steel, double spray is a good choice. The metal sheet thicker, the nozzle is bigger.

3. Control system

It’s the brain of the fiber laser cutting machine.

Brand: Cyput from Shanghai

Analyzation: Most of the Chines factory use this brand. Stable performance, simple operation。

4. Drive motor

There are four motors on fiber laser plate cutting machine. one of them on each X axis and Z axis, other two motors on the Y axis. For plate and tube cutting machine, there are seven motors. one of them on each X axis and Z axis, other two motors on the Y axis. Three more motors on the tube part.

5. Transmission Device

Include Guide rail, gear rack, speed reducer. Transmission device can effect on the precision.

Guide rail brand: HIWIN, PMI, ABBA

Gear rack brand: Taiwan YYC, Taiwan KH, we used diagonal scale, it can have a better precision.

Speed reducer brand: SHIMPO(Japan), Motoreduce(France)

6. Auxiliary system

Include water chiller, Cold and dry machine, Air compressor, Stabilizer, Exhaust fan, Industrial computer.

Water chiller brand: Tongfei(Best quality in China), CW and Dongluyang.

We use the Tongfei brand, Tongfei and Dongluyang mainly for low-power. CW6000 we used in the 300w engraving machine. The role of the chiller is to cool the laser, cutting head and fiber head, the role is particularly important.

Cold and dry machine: remove the air in the water and oil

Air compressor: to provide pressure of the gas

Regulator: remove the power grid interference and fluctuations, to meet the requirements of the power needs

Exhaust fan: to provide compliance, to prevent iron flying

Industrial computer: industrial control computer, Advantech, EVOC are more well-known domestic brands

Fiber laser cutting machine is one of the most popular metal cutting equipment in the market. Fiber laser source is the most important parts. Also we can see there is many different brand laser source in the market. And different suppliers use different brand.

Below is main brand we can find in China market.

  • Raycus

Raycus is the most popular fiber laser source in China market, no matter fiber laser marking machine and fiber laser cutting machine. Also it is the oldest Chinese brand fiber laesr source. and it is the first China brand. It have high quality and stability.

Now not just in China, but also in Europe and USA as most China laser manufacturer promote Raycus laser generator. Compared with IPG laser, its price is much more lower and quality is nearly same quality. It have high cost performance, so it is also very popular in these country.

Raycus laser have good performance on metal cutting, especially on stainless steel and mild steel, also include galvanized sheet, iron sheet.

When laser power lower then 4kw, really it is the best choice.

  • Germany IPG

No doubt IPG is the best fiber laser soruce in the world. Its quality and stability is very high, but its price is also very high. So its market is not big in China market. Only for high power such as 3kw 4kw 5kw 6kw and higher power laser source, it is more popular then other brand.

With IPG laser, it have good cutting performance on stainless steel, mild steel, galvanized sheet cutting.

  • USA nLIGHT

nLIGHT is USA brand fiber laser source, also it have good quality. But its market is not very big in China market as price is more expensive then IPG laser.

Compared with IPG and Raycus laser, nLIGHT laser have big advantage on aluminum cutting. IPG and Raycus have good performance on ordinary metal cutting, such as stainless steel and mild steel. But when cut high reflective material such as aluminum, brass, gold and silver. Other brands can’t do it. nLIGHT laser source have special protective system, so it can cut these high reflective material well.

Except above laser source, also there is several other Chinese brand such as MAX, CAS, JPT etc. These brand laser is some yound China company. Compared with Raycus, their price is lower but stability is also lower then Raycus. So many small suppliers use these brand as price is lower. For some low power less then 1000w, also it have good performance. But for high power, we don’t recommend it.

Plasma cutting is not good on thin metal cutting. When we use it cut thin metal, the cutting edge have much slag. We need do second processing to remove the slag then can use these parts. In this case, its precision also is not very well.

  • Press brake

Prass brake have many years factory, also used on most metal processing factory. Now most people who use press brake buy fiber laser cutting machine, as this two machine is complementary.

  • Waterjet

Waterjet is very very old machine, its biggest advantage is it can cut many different kind material, include steel, stone, plastic etc. Also it can cut any thickness. But the biggest probelm is its speed is so low. Additional, it will use many water and have heavy pollution.

We know price is important, but fiber laser cutting machine is not small machine, not cheap machine.
Machine quality, stability and after service is same important as once some problems happen,
even suppliers send engineer to your factory right now, it need 3~4 days can arrive in your there at least.

Below is some main factors what we should consider when buy fiber laser cutting machine. share it for your reference.

1. Laser generator.

Laser generator is the most important parts for fiber laser cutter, such as our heart. Also it have the biggest influence for machine price.
In China market, IPG, Raycus and Max is main brand. 
Germany IPG is the best all over the world, and its price is also very expensive. usually no need use it.
Raycus is the best Chinese brand, its performance and stability is similar with IPG, but price is much more lower.
Now Raycus occupy more than 60% China market.
Max laser is younger company then Raycus, Its price is cheaper, but high power laser is not very stable.

So we recommend you use Raycus laser, it have the highest cost performance.

2. Machine bed

In the market, laser source brand is limited and easy to select. But we can notice even same laser source they have big difference on price.
In this case, machine bed is the main reason.I will explain more details about machine bed’s difference in next email.

3. Warranty and after service.

Now most company offer 2 years warranty for machine as laser source company offer them 2 years warranty.
About after service, all company said they offer 24 hours after service, you know it is just ads, not real.

Below is our rules on warranty.
We offer 5 years warranty for this machine, pls take care XT LASER is the only company who can offer 5 years warranty.
I have show details rules for 5 years warranty in quotation list, you can check it again.

Actually machine broken will be rise after use 2 years, then broken rate down after use 5 years.
As if one supplier use some bad parts for machine, it won’t influence machine running in beginning 2 years as it is news.
But after use 2 years, bed quality parts will be aging and wearing heavily. then machine running may have many problems.
Also this is one reason why most company offer 2 years warranty even 1 year.

For oversea customers, English engineer who can offer oversea service is very important.
Now our oversea service team more than 20 people, so once some problems happen we can send engineer to your there within 3 days.
We know all company said same that they can do same, but is it real?

For laser source choose, first depends on what material do you cut. For example, if you only cut Stainless steel and carbon steel. Then IPG or Raycus is good for you.

If you need high power like 2kw. then we suggest IPG from Germany. May be more stable, usually hot sale in Europe.

If you need power like 500w to 1500w. Then we suggest Raycus better. Because it is more cost-effective.

If you need to cut aluminum and brass. And often cut the two materials. Then you need America N-Light laser source.

Why we suggest like this? Becasue aluminum and brass are high reflective material. Cut many like this will do harm to laser source.

Because N-Light is a specially one for aluminum and brass.

When it its plate cut part of machine. It is standard cut ability parameter.

For tube cut parts, if you cut tube also. We have the plate and tube cut together model. To confirm the power for tube. First you need to confirm your tube. It is seamless or welded one.

For seamless one, you just focus on standard cut ability. If it is welded one. Then you need to choose higher power.

But if you need 1000w cut 5mm seamless MS tube. Then you need 1500w to cut welded 5mm MS tube.

So follow this, you can choose a suitbale power.
